About Us

Our local was initially formed in 1973 when several departments of  Saskatchewan Government  were privatized. Over the past decades we have been affiliated with 4 different national unions. First was the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union then in 1980 the Energy and Chemical Workers Union. In 1999 we became Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada and finally in 2013  we became Unifor.

In August 31, 2013 CEP (Communications, Energy and Paperworkers’ Union of Canada) joined with CAW (Canadian Auto Workers) to form Unifor, the UNIon FOr everyone.  We are now a national union of over 315,000 workers across every sector of the Canadian economy, including but not limited to oil and gas, forestry, mining, automobile manufacturing, aerospace and aviation, media, hospitality, health care, rail transportation and more. We are the largest private sector union in Canada. Visit www.Unifor.org to find out more about what we stand for.

We work for an employer that provides world class managed IT services to local, provincial, national and international customers. (www.ismcanada.com)
